Four rooms.
One civic roof.
Developed for an open international competition, Porta Rosa reimagines a new civic centerpiece near Utica Junction. Four gallery volumes—each with its own scale, light, and atmosphere—are gathered beneath a broad protective roof.
The golden and green galleries receive indirect northern light and contain a café and restroom. The blue gallery opens to the sky, while the black gallery provides a fully controlled interior. Together they support exhibitions, markets, lectures, celebrations, and informal gathering.
Prefabricated cross-laminated timber allows the pavilion to be built in phases with limited work on site. Its deep red finish recalls the area’s brick civic buildings, while bold signage gives the new public place a clear identity.
