The monument is deliberately quiet: a single, low volume of bush-hammered granite resting close to the ground. A narrow bronze inlay is aligned so that sunlight activates it at noon on August 23 each year.
Rather than representing a life through an object, the memorial creates an event that returns. Stone carries permanence; light carries change. Together they make remembrance both precise and alive.
